Easter Idea Blog – Ideas for Easter Crafts, Easter Decorations, Easter Dinner and Easter Flowers

My mother and I made this craft YEARS ago.
All I know is you blow up a ballon, wrapp it in crochette cotton (colour of your choice), boil sugar and water, let cool, smear on.
It goes like paper machee and then you cut a hole in the front and put “easter” stuff in it. Turns into a large meshie egg.

I just don’t know the specifics….how much sugar and water?, Do I wrap the ballon with cotton THEN pour or put the cotton in the sugar water then wrap…???
HELP!, I really want to do this craft with my kids!

I found a site that talks about yarn eggs:
http://jas.familyfun.go.com/crafts?page=CraftDisplayComments&craftid=11411

According to the site:
1. Ratio: Two parts sugar to one part water. Heated up and dissolved thoroughly
2. Wet yarn first, then wrap
3. You can use liquid starch, or craft glue (not regular glue) instead, but the sugar water method is sparkly.
Hope that helps!
