Easter Idea Blog – Ideas for Easter Crafts, Easter Decorations, Easter Dinner and Easter Flowers

I have a 5 year old niece & a 3 year old nephew and I have no idea what to get them for Easter.

I’m thinking something smaller, like $10-20 each. They have MORE than enough toys and dolls, and they don’t watch a lot of TV. They like to do crafts with their mom, so if you can recommend some kind of craft kit that would work for those ages, that might work.

How about some flower, or vegetable seeds, a small pot, a package of soil & a watering can? You can buy them seperately, or they come in kits. Kids love to plant their own flowers, or vegetables & watch them grow, they also learn from it too.

I love the idea of the Resurrection Eggs.

Description: Lead your kids on a fun, faith-filled Easter egg hunt this year–one that’ll teach them about Jesus’ death and resurrection! Each egg carton is filled with a dozen colorful plastic eggs. Pop them open and find miniature symbols of the Easter story inside. An easy-to-understand booklet in both English and Spanish features Bible stories explaining the significance of each object. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Also, Veggietales "An Easter Carol" is a wonderful video that teaches kids the true meaning of Easter.

I saw the cutest thing in Parent’s magazine, it might work for your niece, anyway, not sure about the 3 yr old but maybe. They decorated a plant pot then put kids gardening supplies and seeds in it, so the kid could do a spring garden! Bulbs are great for kids because they’re almost impossible to kill, so I’d probably do that or something really hardy like mint, but if they’re crafty that could be fun, and at least around here there’s lots of cheap gardening stuff available at places like Big Lots or the Dollar Tree.

Maybe instead of a traditional easter basket get a plastic cleaning caddy (I see them for $1 at the Dollar Tree and the Save-A-Lot) and put craft supplies in it? Different color for each child, maybe you could put their name on the side? Crayons, pad of paper, glitter pens, stickers, maybe an easter-themed coloring book or even just some black and white Easter line drawings printed off your computer.

Decorating your own "easter bonnet" is always a fun thing, they sell those cheap foam visors at the craft stores or even Wal-Mart, I think they’re only like 96 cents, and fabric paint or you can stick other foam pieces to this, though the 3 year old would definitely need some help (maybe just foam stickers for him) I bet the 5 yr old could go nuts with some glitter pens. 🙂

Anyway, hope one of these things help.

heres an oldie but a goodie, spend time with them dying eggs… also give them each a white crayon and have them draw on the eggs before putting them in the dye… my mother did this every easter with me and my brother, we always had fun and we also learned about christianity by it because we would draw religious symbols on the eggs and my mother would teach us about them…. but if youre not christian you can still draw on the eggs, its fun to see the white "suddenly" appear on the egg like magic!!

I have a friend that gives her 3 children a toothbrush for Easter. Sounded like a weird idea to me at first but if they are getting candy, why not a new toothbrush to go with it.

Play dough works for both those age groups. With play they have all kinds of different gadgets you can get. How about side walk chalk. Books that they can read with some. A tee ball set is nice game they can both play outside. The tee ball sets run abound $9.00 usually look for one that has the harder foam bat and balls.

Books (my favorite)
Stickers/Stamps

Also, have you thought about checking out a store like Michael’s or another crafting store. They always have cute, themed craft kits that they could do together. My pre-k class loves the foam stickers in a tub. Now, they have sets for more crafts, crowns, flags, etc.
