Im also going to use crushed pineapple how do I do it and make the sauce?

What my wife and I use:

1 city style (brined) ham, hock end*
1/4 cup brown mustard
2 cups dark brown sugar
1-ounce bourbon (poured into a spritz bottle)**
2 cups crushed ginger snap cookies

Heat oven to 250 degrees F.

Remove ham from bag, rinse and drain thoroughly. Place ham, cut side down, in a roasting pan. Using a small paring knife or clean utility knife set to the smallest blade setting, score the ham from bottom to top, spiraling clockwise as you cut. (If you’re using a paring knife, be careful to only cut through the skin and first few layers of fat). Rotate the ham after each cut so that the scores are no more than 2-inches across. Once you’ve made it all the way around, move the knife to the other hand and repeat, spiraling counter clockwise. The aim is to create a diamond pattern all over the ham. (Don’t worry too much about precision here.)

Tent the ham with heavy duty foil, insert a thermometer, and cook for 3 to 4 hours or until the internal temperature at the deepest part of the meat registers 130 degrees F.

Remove and use tongs to pull away the diamonds of skin and any sheets of fat that come off with them.

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Dab dry with paper towels, then brush on a liberal coat of mustard, using either a basting brush or a clean paint brush (clean as in never-touched paint). Sprinkle on brown sugar, packing loosely as you go until the ham is coated. Spritz this layer lightly with bourbon, then loosely pack on as much of the crushed cookies as you can.

Insert the thermometer (don’t use the old hole) and return to the oven (uncovered). Cook until interior temperature reaches 140 degrees F, approximately 1 hour.

Let the roast rest for 1/2 hour before carving.

*Cook’s note: A city ham is basically any brined ham that’s packed in a plastic bag, held in a refrigerated case and marked “ready to cook”, “partially cooked” or “ready to serve”. Better city hams are also labeled “ham in natural juices”.

**Use the bourbon in place of the pineapple and it will taste loads better. We tried this once when we saw Alton Brown do it on the TV Show Good Eats on the Food Network and OMG it is soooo much better.

Good luck!!!

what is your favorite candy as well ?? mine is the chocolate dipped marshmellows.

Hi, good to see you again!

Ham and sweet potatoes with ice cream and chocolate cake for dessert are what we have often had.
Favorite candy? Chocolate covered blueberries, and I haven’t had any for months!

I don’t have any recipes, but you don’t need ’em for this simple stuff, I know. 🙂

I got all these 1 pound bunnies for easter, and they arent teh best tasting chocolate, so id like to use them in a recipe, does any1 have any recipes containing a pound of chocolate bunnies?

eating chocolate is not the same as baking chocolate … the sugar/oil ratio is different, and it’ll probably burn. Best if you just grate them, keep it in baggies or tupperware, and sprinkle grated chocolate on desserts/cakes later….

I received a very healthy & blooming Easter Lily this Spring and although it has quit blooming, it is still very healthy. Is it possible to plant it outside and have it thrive in the central Virginia region? Or should it remain an indoor plant? Thanks for any advice

Yes,
you can plant them outside..they are a bulb flower…which means they will grow again and again every year…they will also grow little baby bulbs under the ground…which it good…Don’t cut the stem off it unless you already have…this will go brown .the bulb is pulling all the nutrients back into the bulb so it will bloom again and again…after it goes brown gently cut it off dirt level…these bulb will go through almost any type of weather….because the ground takes care of it !!

Art gives your child a chance to express themselves through their imagination. Art allows children to explore and understand their world through creative experiences that emphasize the process of art, not the product. When your child is creating there is no right or wrong way, only their way. (Art instruction does not have specific guide lines for children to follow like a craft.) Art allows your child to be free in their creative mind.

Do you color eggs and hide them in your yards? Just wondering who else does this. Trying to get some geese eggs for the hunt, but they are very scarce around here at this time of year. Ever used those huge goose eggs for coloring? They are really neat, the kids really love them. I make one spray painted with craft gold spray and that is the prize egg, usually $10.00. What do you think of this?
I live in Wyoming. People here raise chickens and sell their eggs. It is very very common. They dont take them all, they have alot of baby chicks. You can also buy a sheep, pig or half a beef! If you want. No chemicals on my lawn, I have 3 dogs and a rabbit 🙂
and two kids……..

Good Idea, my family always does that, and the kids go crazy for searching for the eggs. Happy Easter!

after the eggs are hunted & whatever you use for deviled eggs put a few drops of red food coloring in the yolk & it will make a pretty color for the egg white filling.
