Easter Idea Blog – Ideas for Easter Crafts, Easter Decorations, Easter Dinner and Easter Flowers

I have 3 siblings, an 8 year old brother, a 7 year old sister, and a 6 year old brother.
I recently left my job, and i dont really have the money to spend on their easter gifts like I usually do. My step father makes a lot of money and I always feel like he competes with my gifts, I get something great – he has to get something outrageous.
I cant compete anymore…

The kids are spoiled so I’m worried that they wont be grateful for what I give them… Its a terrible feeling. Not only that, but the 7 and 8 year old will be turning into 8 and 9 years old in april (so i’ll be going gift shoping once again)

I decided that instead of putting together easter baskets, or buying a pre-made one…that I’ll put together an easter egg hunt for them. I bought 60 eggs and filled them with their favorite candy (so each can possibly get 30 eggs)
I did this becuase they’ll be getting their easter candy in a fun way (they love egg huts)
I also bought an empty easter bucket for each child

That is an excellent idea! A gift like that is hard to top, because the kids get to do something fun which builds memories which last forever. Very clever 🙂 lol

Our state has implemented a policy for public schools where we cannot provide candy to students. Any ideas on how we can do our Easter Egg hunt this year?

Good Grief – no candy at an Easter Egg hunt? That does make things a little tough. The only thing I can think of is – there’s a company called Oriental Trading Company, I used to get their catalog all the time. It’s full of little trinkets that they sell in bulk. I think they would have a website.
Good luck.

Let’s rewind the clock to our childhood! Remember these panoramic Easter eggs as a kid? My girlfriend Kris saved her egg that her mom made her when she was a kid. Luckily, her mom, Marilyn, remembered how to make them and was willing to share her craft with us!

My neice and nephew are spending the night with me this Friday. My neice is 3, nephew-6. I want to come up with something that they could make their grandma (my mom) for Easter. She’s the type of person that saves every silly art craft her kids have ever made, so for that reason I want it to be something more special than paper and glue, something that will last a long time and be special. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

You could have them do handprint crafts:

You could also do photo frames – take the kids to the craft store and let them pick out a plain wooden frame and some decorative items (or let them raid your stash). They can paint the frames and glue their decorations on them.

They can paint tiles to be used as trivets

If you can, take a video of them doing the project and maybe they can talk a little bit about their grandmother. If she doesn;t see them often, it’s a nice thing for her to be able to put the tape in and watch it when she’s missing them.

My kids still have about 3 lbs of chocolate leftover from their Easter Baskets. Does anyone have any creative recipes that would help me get rid of it?

You have left-over chocolate? I’m impressed.

Hello everyone wanted to ask for some ideas to decorate a classroom door i wanted to have both easter and spring decorations i want something simple and easy but a the time really nice.
Any sugestions?
i need to decorate an easter and spring door for pre-k i want something easy and but nice and ideas?

What is the age group? I might be able to help if I knew the age. 🙂

Edit: Ok, here are projects for the kids to do
Use their hand prints for Flower petels, foot prints for bunnies (one foot print laid length wise will give a bunny body add ears and cotton tails) and for a 3D effect find the plastic eggs that open the long ways and not in the middle and glue them to the wrapping paper sheet you will tape to the door with all their easter decorations they made. Wrapping paper, especially the colored foil kind, is sturdier than regular paper. I hope I was able to help some with a few project ideas.
Happy Spring to you and your class.

I planted annual Easter Lilies a couple years ago, and they came up that first year, but since then only the stems have come up, and they have never bloomed. No flower part at all. So I would like to know whats wrong with them.. and if I can do anything to help them, or just have to get new ones. Here’s a picture of my neighbors, its what mine use to look like. Is this even a Easter Lily?? If not please tell me what it is. Thanks.

This is a daffodil. Is is possible that you mowed down or cut the foliage back when it did not boom? Most bulb plants have to let the stems die back naturally. Simply put the “energy” of the foliage goes back into the bulb that gives it the oompf to produce a flower again the next year. A lot of times the foliage is not so attractive after it is done blooming and people will cut it back to early. It needs to die back completely. Try braiding the foliage together and pinning to the ground so you can plant other bedding plants around it if they are in a flower bed. Eventually the foliage will disappear on it’s own. Hope this helps.

We usually send a basket with candy in it, but I’d rather not do that this year. Any suggestions?

money, a lot of kids that age want money so they can choose what they want

Here’s a really yummy side dish:

Best Fancy Mashed Potatoes
5 lb mashed potatoes peeled, cooked
1 stick real butter
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
Half and half
salt and pepper
1/2 to 1 cup shredded sharp cheese

Mash potatoes with the butter and a little half and half. Add the rest of ingredients, except cheese, and continue to mash until cream cheese is melted and potatoes are fluffy. Put in casserole dish and cover with sharp cheese. Bake at 350 until cheese is melted and heated through.

Very rich, but wonderful!!

Hope you enjoy!
Chris
