Easter Idea Blog – Ideas for Easter Crafts, Easter Decorations, Easter Dinner and Easter Flowers

I received a very large, absolutely beautiful potted easter lily. I’m fair to average with keeping up plants but I’ve never had easter lilies before. I live in an apartment so I can’t plant them outside. I’d really like to keep them as houseplants but is that possible? How can I keep them alive? Do they need to be in front of a window with full sun? How often do they need water? when the soil is real dry or keep the soil moist all the time? As you can see, I’m clueless!! Any detailed help will be most appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

First,enjoy your beautiful lily.I to got a couple.Just water when the top of the soil feels dry to touch.Poke finger down into the soil to the first knucle,if dry,water thouroughly.They don’t need to be wet all the time.As the flowers die,just pull them off.Cut the flower branch back to the main stem.The plant will eventually turn yellow and die back.This is normal.When it starts to do this,cut the entire plant right down to just above the soil.Then put in a sunny window.Give just enough water so it stays somewhat moist.Soon you will see new growth coming up from the roots.Now you can start to water regularly as before.I usually put mine outside in the garden(live in Wisconsin).I always have beautiful Easter lilies for years and they get about 5 feet tall!

Would be a good idea,when the new growth starts to re-pot the lily into a larger container with fresh soil like Miracle Grow.Enjoy.

What are some good ideas to put in kids easter baskets?
Kids ages 1-17(all ages, boys and girls)
Anything from big gifts like from $10-$30 but also littler gifts, and candy and everything.
Detailed answers would be good.

Bubbles and sidewalk chalk are good for little kids. Mcdonald’s gift cards, gift cards for other places, movie tickets, gas cards for older kids.

Im having a afternoon easter lunch/dinner. I want it to be easy and serve cold dishes. Spring inspired. Any ideas?

EGGPLANTS PUREE :
Grill the whole eggplant on the barbecue until you can peel the skin easily.
In a pot, smash them with olive oil and some whole peeled tomatoes, salt, pepper.
You can also add crushed garlic.
Eat it warm or very cold

EGGS MIMOSA :
6 hard boiled eggs
parsley
mayo
black olives
salt & pepper

Cut the hard boiled in half, take carefully the yokes off and
put them (except 2) in a bowl where you add the shredded parsley, salt, pepper &
a little of mayo.
Feel the egg whites with the mixture. Smash the other 2 yokes a little and
sprinkle the yokes on top of the eggs.
Décorate with a slice of black olive

RATATOUILLE (for 6 people) :
4 zucchinis
4 bell peppers of different colors
3 eggplants
2 big onions (sliced)
5 crushed garlic cloves
thyme & bay leaves
1 cup of olive oil
2 big cans of whole peeled tomatoes
salt & pepper

Diced the vegetables (all of them), not too thick and not thin.
In a pot, put the butter, the sliced onion, crushed garlic.
When the onions are golden, add the peeled tomatoes (drained
the max you can of their juice), the
thyme and bay leaves, salt pepper (a little).
Let the liquid evaporate and then add first the bell peppers,
salt & pepper ( a little), then 10 minutes after,
the zucchini & eggplants, salt & pepper, a little.
You can serve this hot, or very cold as an apetizer

RICE SALAD :
choped black olives
diced bell pepper (small pieces)
diced tomatoes (small pieces)
diced cucumber (small pieces)
can of tuna
some caned corn (optional)
some laituce (optional)

Vinaigrette :
red wine vinegar
peanut or sunflower oil
dijon mustard
salt & pepper
All mixed together

Serve very cold, it’s delicious

I hope I helped

What sort of crafts can I do with kids aged 4 – 10 based around Easter? I thought of painting hollowed out eggs, but are there any other things I could do?

I did this with my kids last year and they loved it – particularly as we put it in the middle of the table for everyone to admire on Easter Sunday lunch.

This would make a cute decoration on your table this Easter. If you make the Easter Bunny small, you could make several and use as place settings with the person’s name painted on the bunny.

Parental supervision is recommended with the use of the hot glue gun and wire cutters.
What you’ll need:

* 2 Terra-cotta pots (any 2 of same size)
* White Gesso (it’s like a primer – A preparation of plaster of Paris and glue used as a base for low relief or as a surface for painting.)
* Gold glitter craft paint
* Paint brush
* White felt
* Pink felt
* Scissors
* 2 Small wiggle eyes
* Hot glue or tacky glue
* Pink ribbon
* 1 Tiny pink pom pom
* 3 White pom poms (at least double the size of the pink pom pom)
* 2 Small silk rose buds
* Wire cutters

How to make it:

1. Base coat the two terra-cotta pots with white Gesso. Let dry.
2. Glue the terra-cotta pots together (see photo).
3. Cut a piece of ribbon to fit around the middle of the bunny. Glue in place.
4. Tie a bow with another piece of ribbon and glue on.
5. Add gold glitter craft paint on center of bow.
6. Glue white pom poms on right above ribbon (see photo).
7. Glue pink pom pom above and right between white pom poms.
8. Glue on wiggle eyes.
9. Cut out ears out of white felt. Cut ears a bit smaller out of pink felt. Glue together.
10. Glue ears on top of the bunny.
11. Cut the stems off the rosettes with the wire cutters.
12. Glue a ribbon rosette in front and in back of ears.
13. Glue bunny tail on the back of bunny, about half way up the bottom pot. Let dry.

We also made some cup cakes for dessert with little chocolate eggs on them. Everyone loved them and they had an easter theme. We put pink and light green icing so it all looked quite pretty.

Aside from fondue and freezing the darn thing does anyone have any recipes for brownies or cookies or cake that calls for an enormous amount of chocolate? Not just a few ounces but A LOT.

Make fondue!

Or ganache.

Is it milk chocolate?
